Who We Are

Crossing the Line Productions are one of Ireland's leading documentary film-makers making highly crafted films featuring powerful stories on subjects ranging from wildlife to science to history. In the last 5 years, we have produced multiple award-winning feature documentaries, television series and one-offs. These films have been broadcast worldwide in many different countries including on RTÉ, BBC, ZDF, Arte, PBS, France TV and SVT and screened at numerous festivals. Our films 'Broken Tail' and 'On a River in Ireland' have both been awarded the highest honours in natural history film-making with 'Broken Tail' winning the top prize at Jackson Hole Film Festival while 'On a River in Ireland' won both that award and the Golden Panda for best film at the Wildscreen Film Festival. In 2017 “Wild Ireland – The Edge of the World” won the Grierson Award for Best Natural History Documentary and a Royal Television Society NI Award for Best Specialist Factual.

Funded by the Irish Film Board, Tangled Bank Studios LLC (a division of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute), BBC, ZDF/Arte, SVT and RTÉ and with its development part-financed by Creative Europe Slate Funding, our feature documentary “The Farthest” was our largest scale project to date enjoying a theatrical release across the USA, UK, and Ireland. Qualifying for the Oscars longlist, it was broadcast in the UK, USA, Germany, France, had countless festival screenings, won multiple awards and worldwide sales are now handled by Kew Media Group. It also won the George Morrison Award for Best Feature Documentary at the recent 2018 IFTAs.

Using this technology and our expertise in filming wildlife we have also set up a specialist wildlife slow motion stock footage website – www.birdsinslowmotion.com. Our Phantom kit joins our host of other kits which include Red Epic and a variety of other Panasonic and Sony full spec broadcast kits.
